The college is approved by Govt. of Puducherry, recognized by N.C.T.E, the statutory body at National level, and affiliated to Pondicherry Central University. It was established in the year 1995. The B.Ed. Degree awarded by Pondicherry Central University is recognized by all other Universities as well as Kerala P.S.C and U.P.S.C. Mahe being one of the four segments of U.T of Puducherry has an extent of 9 square miles with a population of 40,000 people. It is situated between Calicut and Kannur districts of Kerala. The Society has procured an extent of 1 acre and 44 cents of land for constructing the college building. 28 cents of land in the heart of the town is used for constructing the building.
The college has its own building in the heart of Mahe town which is easily accessible from the main road towards Cemetery road. No doubt, it is a classical building constructed as per the norms of the NCTE. The playground is at Cherukallayi, a visible distance away from the college
Sree Narayana College of Education, an institution first of its kind in Mahe was established to produce teachers with quality.
